Germany is and was the power in Europe although it always kept a low profile due to the WW's outcome president Sorkozy is permanently working to undermine the German leadership and trying to instate himself with his superego as the leader in EUROPE and işts a easy task as Ms. Merkel was never a strong leader. She just was fortunate enough to get the chancelor post as the economies were picking up and she has always lacked to reform Germany or to face the crisis timely and decisevly. With elections due soon in Germany and peoples frustration about the economies state (especially that the banks get bailed out and mainstreet suffers is also an issue in Germany) it could become a landslide election with extreme left and right wings gaining substantial support. A politicial destabilisation is warranted allover the world as it happened in the early 30's with the depression looming. Haider the right wing leader of Austria 'died in an accident' soon after he had won a record support in elections. Democracy will be in danger basically as extreme economic conditions and a severe frustration about the incompetence and corruptness of politicians and there unprudent way to execute their post will lead to frustration voting and protests like we have them in Greece and Thailand are just the first indications of the things to come. Usually this kind of circumstances are the breed for war and famine as the best way to distract the frustration of people is to send them to war. Europe could be at the brink of breaking apart as the frustration will limit the tolerance within the population to support weaker countries within the Union. It did not have enought time to grow together as the cultural and political differences have not been soughted out. Plus we have still old conflicts working in the subconscious of the nations against a real union. The ultimate test of the strength of the EU will be up shortly and be a very big challenge to handle especially with locking out Germany which is not a smart move from president Sarkozy who has a Jewish and Hungarian aristrocratic heritage. This are very delicate matters and I am afraid he is not the man to lead Europe as his track record personal and official does not mark him as a man with integrity and statemenship - actually he is an easy target for the Rothschilds to make him to one of their puppets as he is very vain and loves luxury.
Merkel's Loss of Face
By Carsten Volkery in Berlin
A European economic crisis summit without German Chancellor Angela Merkel? British Prime Minister Brown, French President Sarkozy and European Commission President Barroso say there's nothing odd about Merkel not getting invited to the meeting. German politicians and media disagree.
The German government's spokesman has an answer for everything. The fact that British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and French President Nicolas Sarkozy were meeting for pre-talks about the growing economic crisis in London ahead of a European Union summit was completely normal. Chancellor Angela Merkel's spokesman has been singing the same tune for days.
Nor should it amaze anyone that European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso was in London on Monday. After all, Barroso had been invited by Brown to a separate economic conference. It would be completely "absurd" to interpret the meeting as a deliberate exclusion of Merkel, government spokesman Ulrich Wilhelm said.
Brown, Sarkozy and Barroso: "Building small groups or circles would lead us down the wrong track."
Merkel herself hasn't been able to completely ignore the affront. Over the weekend, she had telephone conversations with Brown, Sarkozy and Barroso -- her spokesman said they agreed to work closely together. But the face-saving effort came too late. By then, the London summit was being interpreted in the same way in the media across Europe: EU leaders were meeting without "Madame Non", as Merkel has come to be known in the EU, in order to heave the continent out of a recession. She is widely seen as lacking the courage to take decisive action.
