Geithner as the NY FED president was in charge of overseeing the Investment banks and screwed up completely same is true for his boss Bernanke both need to be fired and not equipped with more power. Same is true for the man who prepares to take over Summers - they are preparing a 'Trojan Horse'. The tighter regulations are basically meant to eliminate the competition of the rival institutions of the 'club'.
Bottom line is that Geithner is absolutely the wrong man for the post as is most of the people who have posts in DC and all over the globe as they have been placed their by the 'club' to be able to establish the secret government running this planet. Geithner Urges US Lawmakers To Move Quickly on Reforms

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner urged Congress to move quickly on the Obama administration's regulatory reform proposals, saying that past reform efforts started too late, after the will to act had subsided.

Geithner, in testimony to the Senate Banking Committee, said the administration considered a full range of options and "decided that now is the time to pursue the essential reforms, those that address the core causes of the current crisis; and that will help to prevent or contain future crises."

Democratic leaders have committed to enacting the overhaul by the end of the year, but the undertaking is so ambitious it has some lawmakers worried about missteps.

"We have to evaluate it, weigh it, slow it down and make sure we do it right," said Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama, the top Republican on the Senate Banking Committee. "Because if we don't, we will pay dearly."

The proposal is aimed at filling in regulatory gaps and increasing oversight of the financial markets to prevent another economic calamity.

"We don't want to stifle innovation," said President Barack Obama in a speech Wednesday. "But I'm convinced that by setting out clear rules of the road and ensuring transparency and fair dealings, we will actually promote a more vibrant market," he added.

Obama wants to empower the Federal Reserve to oversee the largest and most influential financial firms. He also wants to create a council of federal regulators, chaired by the treasury secretary, to monitor risk across the broader market.
